This years Crossfit Open is officially nearing its end. With athletes and affiliates getting ready to submit their scores one last time for 18.5. This year, Dave Castro decided to mark the end of the open with somewhat of a twist…
A few days ago it was announced that the people would have the power to choose the final workout. We had to pick one of three choices. Here’s what we chose:
- Chest-to-bar pull-ups
M 100 lb. F 65 lb (45/30kg)
Strategy for tackling the workout
As Nicole explains in the video above, the workout is pretty straight forward. Consisting of ascending sets of chest-to-bar pull ups, and thrusters for 7 minutes straight. With increasing reps each set, you’re going to want to pace yourself for later in the workout where rest is limited.
You do not want to make the mistake of going out hard in the beginning (Which is easy to do with small early sets). Instead you want to maintain a fast yet sustainable pace throughout the workout. Knowing what pace works for you will only come with time, and knowing your body.
In addition to pacing yourself, It is also important to remember to breath during your workout, and take big breaths. As simple as it sounds, the rush of the moment and the heat of the workout may leave you distracted from the basics.
Finally, this is the last workout of the open…make sure to give it your all!
