What Is Harry’s?
Let’s talk about razors…More specifically, Harry’s razors. Harry’s are a subscription based American company who specialise in facial grooming, and a quality shave. Their emphasis on quality and a low price is admirable, (which I’ll touch on in more detail later on). Their blades are German-made, giving them the infamous ‘German engineering’ status.
‘We make a high-quality shave that’s made by real guys for real guys.’
So, Why am I talking about them?
Having recently expanded their reach to the UK, I knew I had to give it a go. Fortunately for us, as a part of their initial marketing campaign to establish a customer base in the UK, they’re offering an incredible deal. For only £2.95 you can get your hands on the Harry’s ‘trial set’ which includes:
- Truman Razor
- 60ml shaving gel
- Blade Case
- Discounted price for a friend
- Harry’s booklet of top shaving tips

Well What Makes Them Different? Here’s The Deal:
One of the beautiful things about Harry’s is the affordability. I mean seriously, you can get your hands on all the above for only £2.95 (Which is just the delivery charge) Now don’t get me wrong, additional costs do follow. If you like the product (which you will) you’re eventually going to need new blades, and more shaving gel. This is then delivered straight to your door as frequently as you set it.
For example: If you shave everyday you’ll be looking to get new cartilages and shaving gel delivered monthly. On the other end of the spectrum, If you only shave once every blue moon, then that’s totally cool. You can get your refills shipped to you every 5 months instead. Somewhere in the middle? How about every 3 months? It’s completely customisable.
The cost? It depends. Blades come in at £1.75 each, which is considerably less than leading competitors. You can top up on 8 blades and 191ml of shaving gel for just £19.
So how do they do it? Harry’s cuts out the middle man, and instead they sell straight to you and me. The customer. This way they avoid any added charges of the distributors. Allowing us to get a superb shave for the price of a pint.
Now I’m just going to be honest, the quality of the Harry’s blades is incredible. They’re perfectly cut, and perfectly aligned to create a razor that simply glides across your face. And of course it is German-made. What do you expect?
“Our team in Germany has been grinding high-grade steel into some of the world’s sharpest blades since 1920. Today, more than 600 German engineers, designers, craftsmen, and production workers build and operate sophisticated, custom equipment that produces millions of precision blades every year”
Now I don’t want to ramble on too much, so ill move onto what’s really important. The shave.
My Shaving experience with Harry’s
I’ll be honest. I’m no expert when it comes to shaving, although I recognise a quality, effortless shave when I have one. From my first impressions I was curious to why it was labelled as a ‘5 blade’ when I could only see 4 blades. That was until I noticed the ‘precision blade’ located at the top of the razor.
One of the things I enjoyed most about the shave was the shaving gel. It was by far the most luxurious gel I have used to date, as it is thick and smells incredible. (a bit like lavender but manlier…) The actual razor its self resulted in a good, close shave. With the precision blade allowing me to shave those hard to reach areas such as under the nose.
If I do have one criticism however, (and this is just me being picky) it’s that the flexibility on the head of the razor is a little too much. Meaning that you sometimes have the tendency to dig in, and press a little harder when it comes to getting that close shave.
So you fancy giving it a try? I don’t blame you. Here is a little rundown of the short process, to give you an idea of what you’ll find when you come to setting up your subscription.
So when you first hit the ‘Start trial’ button you’ll be taken to this page to confirm what’s in the trial set, to choose the colour of your Truman razor, and to let you know how much you’re paying for the trial.
No matter how good your razor, they eventually get worn down. In this step you can select what refills you would like and how much they’re gonna set you back.
On this step you can select how often you would like your refills delivered, depending on how often you shave.
On the fourth step you create an account (For free) to track your future orders, and subscriptions, You can review your subscription and finally pay and checkout.
Okay, so after you’re all sorted with your ‘Trial set’ and subscription Harry’s have another little surprise. Here you can buy additional things to add onto your next delivery (two weeks after your trial). You can treat your self to ‘The Winton’ a stainless steel, chrome razor. Or take your facial grooming to the next level with face wash and post-shave balm. What’s not to love?
In conclusion Harry’s as a company comes across as professional, convenient and quality. I think its safe to say that their marketing is on point. Do their products live up to expectation? Yes. My honest opinion is that Harry’s is a great company, with a great concept, and even better razors to back it up. By cutting out the middle man they’re able to offer amazing prices, considerably less than some of the leading brands. And with a fair share of customisable options you can receive your shave supplies whenever you need them.
If you’re not convinced by now, then I highly recommend you jump on the ‘Trial set’ offer to experience the quality first hand. Happy shaving!
